Water temp by fabric:

• Satin/silk: cold water is best.
• Chiffon: cool to lukewarm water.
• Cotton: warm water is fine with mild detergent.

Detergent: avoid anything harsh or bleach-based (so the color/shine stays nice).

Drying: “air dry flat” is great. (If it’s elastic-heavy, you can also lay it flat and avoid wringing.)

Storage: keep it dry and away from direct sunlight—good call. 

Extra tips:

• Put it in a mesh laundry bag only if you must machine wash, and use cold + gentle cycle—but handwashing is still safest for chiffon.
• Use mild detergent (avoid bleach/harsh detergents).
• No wringing/twisting.
• Air dry and keep out of direct sunlight.
• Avoid fabric softener (can leave residue and dull some fabrics).
